Serena Unrein is the Public Interest Advocate for Arizona PIRG. She develops and implements policy positions, working regularly with elected officials, the public, and the media. She conducts policy analysis, proposes legislation, generates public support and unites the efforts of public interest groups and individual businesses.
Serena researches and conducts advocacy campaigns on such issues as government transparency, tax and budget policy, and public transportation. She regularly appears on radio and television across the state and has been quoted in The New York Times, The Arizona Republic, the Arizona Daily Star, and other publications. Prior to joining the Arizona PIRG staff, Serena was the Executive Director of the Arizona Students’ Association, where she led successful campaigns to increase financial aid and to make textbooks more affordable.
Serena is a 2003 graduate of Arizona State University.
